Over the last couple of weeks, I've had two instances where my dog has pushed the tube through a hole in the bales. I almost always retrieve the tubes myself, but in these two occasions, I couldn't retrieve the tubes because my dog had moved it from the original locations. So, in this situation, is it legal to:
1.   Attempt to retrieve the tube but then restrain my dog and ask the rat wrangler to get it?
2.   Move to the new location in order to retrieve the tube even it is around a corner or 3 or 4 feet away?

Thanks!

1.  Why not just restrain your dog and let the rat wrangler retrieve the tube?  Are you attempting to reward your dog with the tube before it leaves the ring?

If a dog pushes a tube to a new location on the course, the handler can go to the location of the tube.  No rule notes a handler can not retrieve a tube if the dog moves it from the original location.  Tubes get moved from their original location by dogs all the time.

Thanks for your reply! I guess I didn’t describe my question adequately. I generally retrieve the tube myself because my dog often leaves the area as soon as I get over there. And I think it’s faster.

in these situations, I couldn’t see that the tube had moved until I attempted to retrieve it. So in one case, I then restrained my dog and asked the rat wrangler to get it. Is this legal? In the second case, I had to walk around the bales in order to get it after attempting to retrieve it on the other side. Is this legal?

Thanks

Walking around to retrieve the tube because it moved is legal. Digging for the tube and then restraining the dog is questionable.

If you already touched your dog before digging for the tube and then touched him again to restrain is a NQ. If the dog redirected and you tried to find the tube and then went to restrain is an NQ. You can go to where the tube went and pick it up. I have had to go across the ring because my dog shot the tube out of a hole and slid it across the ring floor.
